Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technologies by Authors and Editorial Staff

1. General Provisions

1.1. Journal of Frontier Studies recognizes the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in research and publishing activities.

1.2. This policy is developed in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and establishes the rules for the use of AI tools by authors and the editorial board.

2. Use of AI by Authors

2.1. Disclosure of AI Use: If authors have used AI tools (e.g., for text generation, data processing, visualization, or analysis), this must be clearly indicated in the manuscript.

2.2. Transparency:
- Authors are required to describe which AI tools were used, for what purpose, and to what extent. This information must be included in the "Methods" section or specified in a separate footnote/note.

Example of wording: “The data was processed using the [AI tool name], developed by [Company/Organization name].”

2.3. Authorship and Responsibility: AI cannot be listed among the authors of the article, as it cannot take responsibility for the content of the manuscript. Responsibility for the accuracy and research reliability of the material lies solely with human authors.

3. Restrictions on AI Use

3.1. Content Generation: Authors must ensure the academic accuracy and originality of the text.

3.2. Avoiding Plagiarism: Authors are required to check materials generated using AI for potential duplication and copyright infringement.

3.3. Data Ethics: AI tools used for data analysis must operate within ethical norms, including the protection of confidentiality and personal data where applicable.

4. Use of AI by the Editorial Board

4.1. Technical Support: The editorial board may use AI tools for automatic spelling, grammar, formatting checks, and plagiarism analysis.

4.2. Assistance in Review: AI may be used for the preliminary review of manuscripts but does not replace the expert opinion of reviewers.

4.3. Transparency of Use: If the editorial board uses AI during the manuscript processing, this information may be disclosed to authors upon request.

5. Principles of Responsibility

5.1. Responsibility for the content of the article rests solely with the authors. The editorial board does not accept responsibility for errors or shortcomings caused by the use of AI tools by authors.

5.2. In case of identified violations related to the use of AI, the manuscript may be rejected or retracted.

6. Additional Recommendations

6.1. Authors are encouraged to use only verified and licensed AI tools to minimize the risk of errors or ethical violations.

6.2. All participants in the publication process must be informed about this policy and adhere to its provisions.
